FAQ
- I have been using a semi-permanent color on my medium brown hair to minimize my gray hair which seems to be coming in more as I age. Lately my hair has been looking dull and flat in color. Do you know why?
- Although semi-permanent hair colors do cover most of the gray, keep in mind that these colors are deposit only colors. This means the color pigment just keeps depositing with no life to you own hair color. This depositing effect will eventually make your hair (especially the porous sections on the ends) look darker in color and produce an opaque color effect. You should have your hair color analyzed by a competent and experienced color stylist to discuss your options.
- Is my hair as affected by the sun as my skin is?
- Yes, the sunlight exposes hair to free radicals that break down protein structures such as melanin. This can leave hair weak and lead to color fading. Just like skin, sun exposure depletes hair of it's natural moisture and leaves it looking and feeling dry and dull. So be sure to use a great sunscreen for your skin as well as use hair products that have sun protection in them.
